EuroTechActive: Digital Motivation for Youth – A Successful Project for Promoting Healthy Living Among Youth
The “EuroTechActive: Digital Motivation for Youth” project, funded by the Erasmus+ program, aimed to inspire European youth to adopt healthier lifestyles through the use of digital tools. This initiative targeted young people aged 18-30, aiming to empower them to integrate physical activities into their daily routines and combat digital addiction, a growing concern among youth today.
The project’s main objectives were clear and impactful:
● Educating young people on the importance of healthy living and the role digital tools can play in promoting physical and mental well-being.
● Encouraging a cultural shift among European youth, fostering the integration of sports and physical activity into everyday life.
● Raising awareness about the Erasmus+ program through informative sessions, thus enhancing the visibility of European opportunities among young people.
● Empowering participants to act as ambassadors for digital health within their communities, promoting balanced digital habits.
● Contributing to the creation of a healthier generation within the European Union and beyond.
Key Activities and Outcomes
The centerpiece of the project was a youth exchange, where participants from seven different countries (Finland, Italy, Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, and Turkey) came together to discuss and learn about digital health, digital addiction, and how to use technology in a positive way. Through this exchange, young people not only gained valuable knowledge but also developed the skills to create their own initiatives aimed at promoting healthier lifestyles within their communities.
Participants learned about various digital tools that can help improve both mental and physical health, while also being introduced to aspects of active citizenship, teamwork, and intercultural relations. The project successfully demonstrated how youth could engage with digital health and use technology to improve their overall well-being.
Impact and Future Prospects
The impact of “EuroTechActive” extended beyond the immediate benefits for participants. By engaging young people as digital health ambassadors, the project ensured that the messages about healthy living and balanced digital habits would spread through communities across Europe. Participants were equipped not only with knowledge but also with the tools to spearhead initiatives and campaigns within their local areas.
This project also emphasized the importance of digital inclusion and engagement in the context of health and well-being, ensuring that young people were aware of the positive ways technology can be used.
As the project draws to a close in December 2024, the positive outcomes are evident: the young participants are not only healthier but also empowered to lead initiatives that encourage their peers to adopt similar habits. The ripple effects of these actions will continue to shape healthier, more digitally aware youth across Europe, contributing to long-term societal benefits.
Through collaborations with several European organizations, the project reinforced the importance of Erasmus+ initiatives in fostering youth empowerment, well-being, and intercultural dialogue.
This project’s success serves as a testament to the power of digital tools in promoting positive change, fostering healthier lifestyles, and supporting young people in navigating today’s digital world.
